awakening

So what do we do with our shattered confidence?  Can it be restored?  Whether you agree with the Occupy movement or not, there is no denying that there are some serious problems not only with America, but the entire world.  Not that there hasn’t always. You can agree or disagree all you want with the protests, but you cannot sit back and say everything is okay and on the right track.  Absolutely not.  And the most bizarre part is that we knew it was heading towards this, for years… and now there’s been an awakening and the people are restless, on all sides of the political spectrums.

Uprisings all throughout Europe, the Middle East and now our doorstep… There’s Occupy protests in over 1000 U.S. cities and throughout the world.. We’re entering a new era of The Great Disruption where the extremely wealthy completely isolate themselves from the other classes, the middle class dwindles away , and the giant corperations and investment groups control the wealth and the government, as they have for too long. a Shattered Confidence

is what my generation faces in the wake of America’s present circumstances.  It’s ‘we’ the ‘young’ people of my generation who have to deal with and pick up the pieces of an extremely irresponsible former one.   What is so sad is that my generation (including myself) have completely lost confidence in their country.  It’s as if by Fall 2008 we started to see the plummet of the modern day Roman Empire and we fear it’s so far gone it just looks like a giant unfathomable mess that cannot be salvaged.  We all knew it was heading in this direction, slowly but surely, yet apathy and greed conquered.  America fell behind in the very world it invented.
