Doesn’t it seem that before the debates even started we knew Romney was going to be the GOP candidate for President? There were ups and downs, the rise and fall of other candidates like Rick Perry and Herman Cain but it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the inevitable happened. As gernades and gunshots ricochet off buildings and homes in the Syrian city of Homs and thousands of people are placed in labor camps, cut off from all of the world in North Korea, the American mainstream media insists on focusing on the real priorities, what they know will stir people up and generate a lot of clicks and viewers… Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. Yes, somehow this tragedy trumps the genoicde in Syria, the child soliders in Uganda, sex trafficking both globally and right here in the suburbs of U.S. cities and the immense poverty and corruption overtaking America in places like Detroit, Camden and Atlantic City. For Hundreds of years, since the dawn of the printing press, people have never been able to communicate or voice a means of free expression as they do today. The greatest tool for transparency and free speech the world has ever known has only just recently developed in our lifetime. We’re looking at just the very beginning of an era that is arguably much greater and maybe even more significant than the industrial revolution. Today, we are experiencing an information and free expression insurgency.
The lines of journalism are becoming blurred as well as like lines between video, magazine, newspaper, books, blogs, social networks.. it’s all morphing into something.. at a rapidly fast pace and changing almost daily. We’re watching now as people, companies and governments grapple with the most influential source that is not in any way physically tangible but limitless and permanent.
